Originally known as Castlepoint Gymnastics Club the Carousel School of Gymnastics in it's current form was founded in 1983 when the club purchased it's current building at Russell Gardens, Wickford. Before then the club hired facilities at local sports centres, however Morgan family and the committee took the courageous decision that if the club was to flourish then the club needed a permanent facility which at the time was the only one in Essex.
The club was registered as a charity in 1990.
The Carousel"s first aim is to encourage participation in the sport and to help each individual to achieve their full potential at what ever level they can whether club, county, regional, national or international.
Please note that although the club runs pre-school gymtot mixed classes for both girls and boys the club actually specialises in the coaching of girl's gymnastics for school age children. There are no gymnastic classes run for school age boys.
The club runs classes for beginners and recreational girls from one hour per week to more intense tuition for girls with aspirations for international recognition in the sport. See our classes page for details.
